About Us

Fidelma Woods Occupational Therapist and Founder of WellNestedOT

With over 10 years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist in the Public Sector, I have worked with both children and adults across a lifespan range from birth to old age whom have developmental differences, multiple diagnoses and the Neurodivergent population. I have worked in Paediatrics from birth to 18 years, Adult Community Mental Health including supporting Neurodivergent population and with Adults with Intellectual Disabilities.  My extensive practice within multiple teams supporting children and adults has provided invaluable skills in practicing holistically to support both the child and their family and has enhanced my clinical reasoning skills in considering the child’s needs both now and into the future.

I obtained a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Limerick in 2013, graduating with first-class honors. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Care from Sligo Institute of Technology in 2009 and worked as a Home Tutor for Autistic children for four years.

Throughout my career, I have gained extensive clinical experience working with individuals of all ages, from infants to the elderly, who have various developmental differences and diagnoses. My expertise lies in promoting independence in everyday functional skills such as self-care activities, leisure activities, education, and employment. I have been fortunate to work closely with numerous children, adults, and their families, helping them achieve meaningful outcomes that improves their health, wellbeing, participation and daily lives.

In working in the public sector and also from my experience as a Mother raising 3 children I saw there was a need for a service that, supports the family as a whole and promotes using natural occupations and the outdoors as a sustainable environment to foster engagement and skill development and so established my own private practice called WellNestedOT. I am deeply committed and motivated to bring about positive change and outcomes for the children I support. I believe in providing personalised, evidence-based and client-centered interventions to support the unique needs of each child. I strive to empower children to overcome challenges and develop necessary skills for daily activities and participation in home, school and the community.

My therapeutic approach involves building rapport with children, employing play-based and creative therapy methods to support their skill development in a tailored environment that aligns with their strengths and interests. My areas of specialisation includes sensory preferences to support participation, fine motor development, self care tasks and using meaningful occupation in their natural forms as intrinsic motivators to improve participation and wellbeing.
